Palazzo La Tagliata is one of the historical buildings in the Old Town of Taranto, set within the dense network of alleys, courtyards, and noble palaces that characterize the ancient island. Dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, it is linked to the presence of aristocratic and bourgeois families who, in the modern age, transformed the medieval settlement with representative residences. The building stands out for its simple façade in local stone, monumental portal, balconies, and decorative elements that testify to the civil taste of the time; inside, where accessible, there are typical hallways, courtyards, and vaulted rooms. Today, Palazzo La Tagliata is primarily an architectural asset of historical and cultural interest. It currently serves as the seat of municipal offices of the Municipality of Taranto, located in the Old Village of the city. For visitors, it represents a useful stop to understand the stratification of Taranto, a city that is Greek, medieval, and baroque. It is recommended to admire it during a walking tour in the Old Town, combining the visit with Via Duomo, the Cathedral of San Cataldo, the hypogea, the Aragonese Castle, and the views over the Mar Grande and Mar Piccolo. Access to the interiors may not be regular, so it's advisable to inquire with local tourist offices or authorized guides.
